Brief History In 1955 twenty-six dedicated men chartered an organization to serve the citizens of
the Macungie area. This year, 2008, will mark the 53rd year the Macungie
Ambulance Corps is providing services to the Macungie
and surrounding areas. On May 19th 2006 Macungie Ambulance Corps began providing ALS (Advance Life Support) to our coverage area.
During the first year
these men trained in first aid, setup sleeping teams, and provided service on 50
calls. The Ambulance, a 1948 Packard, was originally turned over to the Boro of
Macungie by the V.F.W. Home Association and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary on May 30,
1955.
Currently the Macungie Ambulance Corps respondes to over 2,000 emergency calls annually as well as providing stand-by services
at different community activities.
