Services

In 1955 twenty-six dedicated men chartered an organization to serve the citizens of the Macungie area. This year, 2007, will mark the 52nd year the Macungie Ambulance Corps is providing BLS (Basic Life Support) services to the Macungie and surrounding areas. As of May 19, 2006, we also provide ALS (Advanced Life Support) to the area.

During the first year these men trained in first aid, setup sleeping teams, and provided service on 50 calls. The Ambulance, a 1948 Packard, was originally turned over to the Boro of Macungie by the V.F.W. Home Association and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary on May 30, 1955.

Today, The Macungie Ambulance Corps. has a membership of 40 corps personnel (including EMT's, First Responders, Paramedics, and Associate Members). We now have three fully equipped Braun Ford Type III Ambulances and a Special Operations Unit. We are an ALS (Advanced Life Support) certified Corps.

We are always in need of volunteers - days, nights, evenings, and weekends. We cover 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. If you have some time to spare, (even just an hour of two) and would like to volunteer as an ambulance attendant or Associate member, please send an e-mail message to the address listed on the Contact page, or call the office number (610)966-2601 for an application. We can assist you in obtaining the necessary training needed to become a First Responder or EMT.

We offer the following services to our community.
